Ingress Protection
Ingress Protection, often abbreviated as IP, is a standard that rates the degree of protection provided by enclosures against the intrusion of solid objects and liquids. The rating consists of two digits; the first digit indicates protection against solid particles, while the second digit refers to protection against water. For example, an IP67 rating means the device is dust-tight and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
These ratings help consumers and manufacturers understand how well a product can resist environmental factors. Devices with higher IP ratings are generally more durable and suitable for challenging conditions, making them ideal for outdoor use or in industrial settings.
