IP Code
The IP Code, or Ingress Protection Code, is a standard that classifies the degree of protection provided by electrical enclosures against the intrusion of solid objects and moisture. It consists of the letters "IP" followed by two digits. The first digit indicates protection against solid particles, ranging from 0 (no protection) to 6 (dust-tight). The second digit represents protection against liquids, ranging from 0 (no protection) to 9K (protection against high-pressure steam).
This code helps consumers and manufacturers understand how well a device can withstand environmental factors. For example, a device rated as IP67 is completely dust-tight and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Knowing the IP Code is essential for selecting appropriate equipment for specific conditions, such as outdoor use or industrial environments.
