IC_1396
IC 1396 is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation Cepheus. It is part of a larger region known as the Cepheus Flare, which contains several other nebulae and star-forming areas. The nebula is approximately 3,000 light-years away from Earth and spans about 100 light-years across.
The most notable feature of IC 1396 is the Elephant's Trunk Nebula, a dense region of gas and dust that resembles an elephant's trunk. This area is a site of active star formation, where new stars are being born from the surrounding material. The nebula is best observed with telescopes that can capture its intricate details and vibrant colors.
