Cocoon Nebula
The Cocoon Nebula, also known as IC 5146, is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It is approximately 4,300 light-years away from Earth and spans about 15 light-years across. The nebula is surrounded by a dark cloud of dust, which gives it a cocoon-like appearance, hence its name.
Inside the Cocoon Nebula, new stars are forming from the surrounding gas and dust. The intense radiation from these young stars causes the surrounding material to glow, creating a beautiful display of colors. The nebula is a popular target for both amateur and professional astronomers due to its striking features.
