The Cocoon Nebula, also known as IC 5146, is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It is approximately 4,300 light-years away from Earth and spans about 15 light-years across. The nebula is surrounded by a dark cloud of dust, which gives it a cocoon-like appearance, hence its name. Inside the Cocoon Nebula, new stars are forming from the surrounding gas and dust.
