Hydrosol
A hydrosol is a water-based solution that contains the essential oils and other compounds extracted from plants during the steam distillation process. Unlike essential oils, which are concentrated and oily, hydrosols are much milder and can be used directly on the skin or in various applications. They are often used in cosmetics, skincare, and aromatherapy for their soothing and aromatic properties.
Common examples of hydrosols include rose water, lavender hydrosol, and peppermint hydrosol. These products retain the beneficial properties of the original plant while being gentle enough for everyday use. Hydrosols can also serve as natural flavorings in culinary applications or as refreshing sprays.
