Huron-Wendat
The Huron-Wendat are an Indigenous people originally from the region around the Great Lakes in North America. They are known for their agricultural practices, particularly the cultivation of crops like corn, beans, and squash, often referred to as the "Three Sisters." Historically, they lived in longhouses and formed a confederacy of several tribes, which helped them manage resources and defend against other groups.
In the 17th century, the Huron-Wendat faced significant challenges due to European colonization, including disease and conflict with other tribes and settlers. Many members of the tribe were displaced, leading to a diaspora that spread their culture and traditions across various regions. Today, the Huron-Wendat continue to preserve their heritage and promote their history through cultural initiatives and community engagement.
