Huron People
The Huron People, also known as the Wendat, are an Indigenous group originally from the region around the Great Lakes in North America. They were known for their agricultural practices, particularly the cultivation of crops like corn, beans, and squash, often referred to as the "Three Sisters." The Huron lived in longhouses and formed complex social structures, including clans and councils.
Historically, the Huron were involved in trade networks with other Indigenous groups and European settlers. They faced significant challenges in the 17th century due to conflicts with the Iroquois Confederacy and the impact of European diseases. Today, the Huron continue to preserve their culture and heritage, with communities primarily located in Canada.
