Hungarian cowboys
Hungarian cowboys, known as csikós, are skilled horsemen who traditionally work on the vast plains of Hungary. They are primarily associated with the Puszta, a unique grassland region where they manage herds of Hungarian Grey cattle and racka sheep. Their expertise in horseback riding and cattle herding has been passed down through generations.
The csikós wear distinctive clothing, including a wide-brimmed hat and leather boots, which are practical for their work. They often use traditional tools like the lasso and whip to control livestock. This cultural heritage is celebrated in festivals and showcases, highlighting the importance of the csikós in Hungarian history.
