Humphry Repton
Humphry Repton (1752-1818) was an English landscape designer known for his work in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He is often regarded as the successor to Capability Brown, another prominent landscape architect. Repton introduced the concept of the "Red Book," a presentation format that included sketches and plans to illustrate his design proposals for gardens and estates.
Repton's designs emphasized natural beauty and harmony with the surrounding landscape. He was innovative in using color and texture to enhance gardens, and he often incorporated existing features into his designs. His work can be seen in various estates across England, contributing significantly to the evolution of landscape gardening.
