Human Rights in Albania
Human rights in Albania have seen significant improvements since the fall of communism in the early 1990s. The country has made strides in promoting civil liberties, including freedom of speech, assembly, and religion. However, challenges remain, particularly regarding the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals and the treatment of ethnic minorities.
The Albanian government has implemented various laws and policies to protect human rights, aligning with European Union standards as part of its accession process. Despite these efforts, issues such as corruption, discrimination, and inadequate access to justice continue to affect the realization of human rights for all citizens.
