Huilliche
The Huilliche are an Indigenous people from southern Chile, primarily located in the regions of Los Lagos and Los Ríos. They are part of the larger Mapuche cultural group and have their own distinct language, also called Huilliche, which is a variant of the Mapudungun language. Historically, the Huilliche have been known for their agricultural practices, fishing, and craftsmanship.
Today, the Huilliche community continues to preserve their cultural heritage through traditional practices, music, and art. They face challenges related to land rights and cultural preservation, as modern development impacts their ancestral territories. Efforts are ongoing to revitalize the Huilliche language and promote their cultural identity.
