House of Romanov
The House of Romanov was the last imperial dynasty to rule Russia, reigning from 1613 until the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II in 1917. Founded by Michael Romanov, the family oversaw a period of significant expansion and modernization in Russia, including the establishment of a vast empire.
The Romanovs were known for their opulent lifestyle and strong ties to the Eastern Orthodox Church. Their rule ended during the Russian Revolution, which led to the execution of Nicholas II and his family in 1918, marking a dramatic shift in Russian history and governance.
