Hottentot
The term "Hottentot" historically referred to the indigenous people of southwestern Africa, particularly the Khoikhoi and San groups. It was used by European colonizers and is now considered outdated and potentially offensive. The Hottentots were known for their pastoral lifestyle, herding cattle and sheep, and their unique cultural practices.
Today, the term is largely replaced by "Khoikhoi" to honor their identity. The Khoikhoi people have a rich history, including their interactions with early European settlers. Their languages, traditions, and social structures continue to be studied and respected in contemporary discussions about indigenous cultures in Africa.
