Homarus Americanus (Lobster)
Homarus americanus, commonly known as the American lobster, is a species of marine crustacean found primarily along the Atlantic coast of North America. They are characterized by their long bodies, large claws, and a hard exoskeleton. Typically, they can grow up to 24 inches in length and weigh over 40 pounds, although most caught are smaller.
American lobsters inhabit rocky, sandy, or muddy bottoms at depths ranging from shallow waters to over 1,000 feet. They are nocturnal scavengers, feeding on fish, mollusks, and other marine organisms. This species is also economically significant, being a popular seafood choice in many regions.
