History of the Tang Dynasty
The Tang Dynasty ruled China from 618 to 907 AD and is often regarded as a golden age of Chinese civilization. Founded by Li Yuan, who became Emperor Gaozu, the dynasty expanded its territory and influence, promoting trade along the Silk Road and fostering cultural exchanges with neighboring regions.
During the Tang Dynasty, advancements in art, literature, and technology flourished. Notable poets like Li Bai and Du Fu emerged, while innovations such as woodblock printing and advancements in medicine were developed. The dynasty eventually declined due to internal strife and external pressures, leading to its fall and the beginning of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
