Hindu Ascetics
Hindu ascetics, known as sadhus, are individuals who renounce worldly pleasures and material possessions to pursue spiritual goals. They often live in solitude or in small communities, dedicating their lives to meditation, prayer, and self-discipline. Ascetics may follow specific spiritual practices and adhere to strict codes of conduct, aiming to attain higher states of consciousness and enlightenment.
Many Hindu ascetics belong to various sects or traditions, such as Shaivism or Vaishnavism, each with its own beliefs and practices. They often wear simple clothing, such as orange robes, and may have distinctive physical features, like matted hair or ash smeared on their bodies, symbolizing their commitment to a spiritual life.
