Himalayan Climate
The Himalayan climate varies significantly due to its vast elevation range. In the lower regions, the climate is generally subtropical, with warm summers and mild winters. As altitude increases, temperatures drop, leading to a colder alpine climate in the mid-elevations, and eventually to a frigid polar climate at the highest peaks, such as those found in the Himalayas.
Precipitation in the Himalayas is influenced by the monsoon season, which typically occurs from June to September. During this time, heavy rainfall can lead to landslides and flooding in the foothills. In contrast, the higher elevations receive less precipitation, primarily in the form of snow, contributing to the glaciers that are vital for the region's water supply.
