Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP)
Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP) are individuals who experience heightened sensitivity to sensory input, emotions, and social situations. This trait, which affects about 15-20% of the population, is often linked to deeper processing of information and a strong emotional response to stimuli. HSPs may feel overwhelmed in busy environments or become easily affected by the moods of others.
The concept of HSP was popularized by psychologist Elaine Aron, who identified it as a personality trait rather than a disorder. HSPs often possess strong empathy, creativity, and intuition, making them uniquely attuned to their surroundings and the feelings of those around them.
