Heterotopia
Heterotopia is a concept introduced by philosopher Michel Foucault to describe spaces that exist outside of the usual social norms and structures. These spaces can be real, like prisons or cemeteries, or imagined, like utopias. Heterotopias serve as a mirror to society, reflecting its values and contradictions while providing a different perspective on reality.
In a heterotopia, the rules and meanings of everyday life are altered, creating a unique environment. For example, a theme park can be seen as a heterotopia because it offers an escape from the mundane, allowing visitors to experience a curated version of reality.
