Heraclea Lyncestis
Heraclea Lyncestis is an ancient city located in present-day North Macedonia, near the town of Bitola. Founded in the 4th century BC by the Macedonians, it was named after the mythological hero Heracles. The city flourished during the Hellenistic period and later became an important center during the Roman Empire.
The archaeological site features well-preserved ruins, including a theater, basilicas, and mosaics that showcase the city's rich history. Excavations have revealed artifacts that provide insight into the daily life and culture of its inhabitants, reflecting the blend of Greek and Roman influences in the region.
