Hepatic Circulation
Hepatic circulation refers to the blood flow to and from the liver, which plays a crucial role in processing nutrients and detoxifying substances. Blood from the digestive organs and spleen is carried to the liver through the hepatic portal vein, allowing the liver to filter and metabolize these substances before they enter the general circulation.
After processing, blood leaves the liver through the hepatic veins and drains into the inferior vena cava, which returns it to the heart. This circulation is essential for maintaining metabolic balance and ensuring that harmful substances are neutralized before they reach the rest of the body.
