Henry of Navarre
Henry of Navarre, also known as Henry IV of France, was born in 1553 and became the first monarch of the Bourbon dynasty in France. He was originally the King of Navarre and played a significant role in the French Wars of Religion, which were conflicts between Catholics and Protestants in France.
In 1593, Henry converted to Catholicism to secure his position as king, famously stating, "Paris is worth a mass." His reign, which lasted until 1610, is noted for the Edict of Nantes, which granted religious freedom to the Huguenots, promoting peace and stability in France.
