Henry Williams (Missionary)
Henry Williams was a notable missionary in New Zealand during the 19th century. He arrived in 1823 and played a significant role in the spread of Christianity among the Māori people. Williams was known for his efforts in translating the Bible into the Māori language, which helped facilitate communication and understanding between the two cultures.
In addition to his missionary work, Henry Williams was involved in education and the establishment of churches. He worked alongside other missionaries, including William Williams, his brother, to promote literacy and provide social services. His contributions significantly impacted the development of the Anglican Church in New Zealand.
