Henry Harwood
Henry Harwood was a British naval officer known for his significant role during World War II. He is best remembered for his leadership during the Battle of the River Plate in 1939, where he commanded the British cruiser HMS Exeter. His strategic decisions contributed to the defeat of the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee.
Harwood was born on 19th February 1888 and joined the Royal Navy in 1906. Throughout his career, he held various commands and was recognized for his tactical skills and bravery. He passed away on 9th June 1970, leaving a legacy in naval history.
