Henry Darger
Henry Darger was an American artist and writer, best known for his elaborate and fantastical works created in solitude. Born in 1892, he spent most of his life in Chicago, where he worked as a janitor. Darger is famous for his epic narrative, "The Story of the Vivian Girls," which features a group of princesses fighting against evil forces in a mythical land.
His artwork includes detailed illustrations that accompany his writings, showcasing a unique style characterized by vibrant colors and intricate scenes. Darger’s work remained largely unknown until after his death in 1973, when it gained recognition in the art world, influencing discussions about outsider art and self-taught artists.
