Henry A. Wise
Henry A. Wise was an American politician and military officer born on December 3, 1806, in Accomack County, Virginia. He served as the Governor of Virginia from 1856 to 1860 and was a member of the Democratic Party. Wise was known for his strong support of states' rights and slavery, which aligned with the views of many in the Southern states during the pre-Civil War era.
During the American Civil War, Wise served as a general in the Confederate Army. He was involved in several military campaigns and was known for his leadership in the Eastern Theater. After the war, Wise continued to be active in politics and public life until his death on September 12, 1876.
