Henri Moissan
Henri Moissan was a French chemist born on September 28, 1852. He is best known for his discovery of the element fluorine in 1886, which he isolated using an innovative electrochemical method. Moissan's work significantly advanced the field of chemistry and earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1906.
In addition to his discovery of fluorine, Moissan developed the electric arc furnace, a device that allowed for high-temperature chemical reactions. His contributions to science extended to the study of various compounds and materials, making him a prominent figure in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Moissan passed away on February 20, 1907.
