Henri Bourassa
Henri Bourassa was a prominent Canadian politician and journalist born on September 1, 1868, in Montreal, Quebec. He is best known for his role as a member of the House of Commons and for founding the newspaper Le Devoir in 1910, which became a significant voice for French Canadians and Quebec nationalism.
Bourassa was a strong advocate for Canadian nationalism and opposed conscription during World War I, believing it would undermine French Canadian rights. He served in various political roles, including as a member of the Liberal Party and later as an independent, and he remained influential in Quebec politics until his death on August 31, 1952.
