Heinrich von Ferstel
Heinrich von Ferstel (1828-1883) was an Austrian architect known for his significant contributions to the architectural landscape of Vienna. He is best recognized for designing the Votivkirche, a prominent neo-Gothic church that was built in response to an assassination attempt on Emperor Franz Joseph I.
In addition to the Votivkirche, Ferstel also played a key role in the design of the University of Vienna's main building. His work is characterized by a blend of historical styles, particularly Gothic and Renaissance, which reflects the architectural trends of the 19th century in Europe.
