Hegra
Hegra, also known as Al-Hijr, is an ancient archaeological site located in northwestern Saudi Arabia. It was the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the country, recognized for its well-preserved rock-cut tombs and monumental architecture dating back to the Nabataean civilization, which thrived from the 4th century BCE to the 2nd century CE.
The site features over 100 tombs, many adorned with intricate carvings and inscriptions. Hegra served as a vital trading hub along the Incense Route, connecting the Arabian Peninsula to the Mediterranean. Its historical significance and stunning structures make it a key attraction for visitors interested in ancient cultures.
