Hector's dolphins
Hector's dolphins are small marine mammals native to the coastal waters of New Zealand. They are one of the world's rarest dolphin species, characterized by their rounded bodies and distinctive, short fins. Adult Hector's dolphins typically grow to about 1.2 to 1.5 meters in length and have a unique gray and white coloration.
These dolphins primarily inhabit shallow waters and are known for their playful behavior. They feed on a diet of fish and squid, using echolocation to locate their prey. Conservation efforts are crucial for their survival, as their populations are threatened by habitat loss and fishing activities.
