Heart Tissue
Heart tissue, also known as cardiac tissue, is specialized muscle tissue that makes up the heart. It is responsible for the heart's ability to contract and pump blood throughout the body. This tissue is unique because it can generate electrical impulses, allowing the heart to beat rhythmically and maintain a steady flow of blood.
There are three main types of heart tissue: myocardium, which is the thick middle layer responsible for contraction; endocardium, the inner lining that protects the heart chambers; and epicardium, the outer layer that provides a protective covering. Together, these tissues work to ensure the heart functions effectively.
