Hawaii Territorial Legislature
The Hawaii Territorial Legislature was the governing body of the Territory of Hawaii from 1900 until 1959. It consisted of a bicameral system, which included the House of Representatives and the Senate. This legislature was responsible for creating laws and managing local affairs after Hawaii was annexed by the United States in 1898.
In 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States, leading to the dissolution of the territorial legislature. The new Hawaii State Legislature was established, reflecting the transition from a territory to a state, allowing for greater self-governance and representation for the people of Hawaii.
