Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem during the second century BCE. It celebrates the miracle of the oil, where a small amount of oil lasted eight days in the temple's menorah, despite being enough for only one day.
During Hanukkah, families light the menorah, a special candelabrum, adding one candle each night. Traditional foods like latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly-filled doughnuts) are enjoyed, and games like dreidel are played, making it a festive time for family and community gatherings.
