Han-Xiongnu Wars
The Han-Xiongnu Wars were a series of military conflicts between the Han Dynasty of China and the Xiongnu, a confederation of nomadic tribes in Central Asia. These wars began around 133 BCE and lasted for several decades, primarily driven by the Han's desire to secure trade routes and protect their borders from Xiongnu raids.
The conflicts included various battles and campaigns, with notable leaders like General Wei Qing and General Huo Qubing leading Han forces to victories. Ultimately, the wars resulted in the weakening of the Xiongnu power and the establishment of a more stable frontier for the Han Dynasty, facilitating trade along the Silk Road.
