Hamoun Lake
Hamoun Lake is a large wetland located in the southeastern part of Iran, primarily in Sistan and Baluchestan province. It is part of a complex of interconnected lakes and marshes that are fed by the Helmand River. The lake is known for its unique ecosystem, which supports various species of birds and aquatic life.
Over the years, Hamoun Lake has faced significant environmental challenges, including drought and water diversion projects. These issues have led to a dramatic reduction in the lake's size, impacting local wildlife and the livelihoods of communities that depend on its resources. Conservation efforts are ongoing to restore the lake's health.
