Hamilton Fish
Hamilton Fish was an American politician who served as a U.S. Congressman and later as the Governor of New York. Born on August 3, 1808, he was a member of the Whig Party and later the Republican Party. Fish was known for his strong advocacy for civil rights and his efforts to improve the lives of African Americans during the Reconstruction era.
In addition to his political career, Hamilton Fish was also appointed as the U.S. Secretary of State under President Ulysses S. Grant.
