Hachikō
Hachikō was an Akita dog born in 1923 in Japan, known for his remarkable loyalty. He would wait for his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, at the Shibuya Station every day, even after Ueno passed away in 1925. Hachikō continued to wait for him for nearly ten years, becoming a symbol of devotion.
In 1934, a bronze statue of Hachikō was erected at Shibuya Station to honor his memory. The statue has since become a popular meeting spot and a tribute to the bond between dogs and humans, inspiring stories and films about loyalty and love.
