HMS Temeraire
HMS Temeraire was a famous British warship launched in 1798. It served in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars and is best known for its role in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, where it played a crucial part in defeating the French and Spanish fleets. The ship was a third-rate ship of the line, equipped with 98 guns, and was renowned for its speed and maneuverability.
After its active service, HMS Temeraire was decommissioned in 1838 and later sold for scrap in 1839. The ship became a symbol of naval power and is famously depicted in the painting "The Fighting Temeraire" by J.M.W. Turner, which captures its final journey up the River Thames.
