HMS Achilles
HMS Achilles was a light cruiser of the Royal Navy, launched in 1932. She was part of the Leander-class and served primarily during World War II. The ship was named after the Greek hero Achilles and was known for her speed and agility in naval operations.
During her service, HMS Achilles participated in several significant battles, including the Battle of the River Plate in 1939. She played a crucial role in engaging the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee. After the war, the ship was decommissioned and sold for scrap in 1957.
