HELLP syndrome
HELLP syndrome is a serious pregnancy complication that usually occurs in the third trimester. It is characterized by three main features: hemolysis (the breakdown of red blood cells), elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count. This condition can lead to severe health risks for both the mother and the baby if not diagnosed and treated promptly.
Symptoms of HELLP syndrome may include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, and fatigue. It is often associated with preeclampsia, a condition marked by high blood pressure during pregnancy. Early detection and management are crucial to ensure the safety of both the mother and the child.
