HCOO
HCOO, also known as formate, is the simplest carboxylate ion derived from formic acid. It consists of a single carbon atom bonded to two oxygen atoms, one of which is part of a carbonyl group, and a hydrogen atom. Formate is commonly found in nature, particularly in the form of salts and esters, and plays a role in various biological processes.
In industrial applications, HCOO is used in the production of various chemicals and as a preservative in animal feed. It can also serve as a reducing agent in chemical reactions. Additionally, formate is involved in the metabolism of certain organisms, including bacteria and humans.
