Hélio Oiticica
Hélio Oiticica was a Brazilian artist born on July 26, 1937, in Rio de Janeiro. He is best known for his innovative contributions to the Neo-Concrete movement, which emphasized the importance of viewer interaction and experience in art. Oiticica's work often included vibrant colors and immersive installations, encouraging audiences to engage physically and emotionally with his pieces.
One of his most famous works is the series of Parangolés, which are capes and banners that invite wearers to move and dance, transforming the art into a participatory experience. Oiticica's ideas greatly influenced contemporary art, particularly in the realms of installation and performance art, before his death in 1980.
