Héctor Abad Gómez
Héctor Abad Gómez was a Colombian physician and human rights advocate, born on July 19, 1921, in Medellín, Colombia. He is best known for his work in promoting public health and advocating for the rights of marginalized communities. Abad Gómez was a prominent figure in the fight against violence and inequality in Colombia during the mid-20th century.
He was also the father of the writer Héctor Abad Faciolince, who honored him in his book "El Olvido que Seremos." Tragically, Héctor Abad Gómez was assassinated in 1987, a victim of the political violence that plagued Colombia. His legacy continues to inspire human rights activism in the country.
