Gwanghaegun
Gwanghaegun was a Korean monarch who ruled from 1608 to 1623 during the Joseon Dynasty. He is known for his efforts to modernize the kingdom and strengthen its military, particularly in response to invasions from Japan and the Manchu tribes. His reign was marked by significant political turmoil and conflict.
Despite his contributions, Gwanghaegun faced opposition from the ruling elite, leading to his eventual ousting in a coup known as the Injo Restoration. After his removal, he lived in exile until his death in 1641. His legacy remains complex, with some viewing him as a visionary leader and others as a controversial figure.
