Gwalia
Gwalia is a historic mining town located in Western Australia, known for its rich gold deposits discovered in the late 19th century. The town was established in 1896 and quickly grew as miners flocked to the area in search of fortune. At its peak, Gwalia had a thriving community, complete with schools, shops, and a hotel, serving the needs of the miners and their families.
Today, Gwalia is a ghost town, with many of its original buildings preserved as part of the Gwalia Historic Site. Visitors can explore the remnants of the town and learn about its history, including the famous Sons of Gwalia gold mine, which operated until 1963.
