Guy Fawkes (Rebellion)
The Guy Fawkes Rebellion, also known as the Gunpowder Plot, was a failed attempt in 1605 to blow up the House of Lords in London. The plot was orchestrated by a group of English Catholics, including Guy Fawkes, who sought to assassinate King James I and restore Catholic rule in England. The conspirators planned to detonate explosives hidden in the cellar during the State Opening of Parliament.
The plot was discovered before it could be executed, leading to the arrest of Fawkes and his co-conspirators. On November 5, 1605, Fawkes was captured while guarding the explosives, and he was later executed. This event is commemorated annually in the UK as Guy Fawkes Night, marked by bonfires and fireworks.
