Guru Amar Das
Guru Amar Das was the third Guru of the Sikh faith, serving from 1552 to 1574. He was born in 1479 in Basarke, Punjab, India. Guru Amar Das is known for promoting the importance of community service and equality among all people, regardless of caste or gender. He established the practice of Langar, a communal meal served to all visitors, symbolizing unity and sharing.
He also composed numerous hymns that are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. Guru Amar Das emphasized the significance of devotion to God and encouraged his followers to live a life of humility and service. His teachings laid the foundation for the values of compassion and social justice in Sikhism.
