Gurney's Pygmy Eagle
Gurney's Pygmy Eagle, scientifically known as Ninox gurneyi, is a small species of owl found primarily in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. This bird is characterized by its compact size, with a wingspan of about 60 to 70 centimeters. Its plumage is typically dark brown with lighter spots, providing excellent camouflage among the foliage.
This owl primarily hunts small mammals, birds, and insects, using its keen eyesight and silent flight to capture prey. Gurney's Pygmy Eagle is known for its distinctive call, which can be heard during the night. Conservation efforts are important for this species, as its habitat is threatened by deforestation and land development.
