Gunpowder Production
Gunpowder production involves combining three primary ingredients: saltpeter, charcoal, and sulfur. The typical ratio is about 75% saltpeter, 15% charcoal, and 10% sulfur. These materials are finely ground and mixed together to create a uniform powder, which is then carefully moistened to prevent accidental ignition during handling.
Once mixed, the gunpowder is pressed into cakes and dried to enhance its stability and performance. This process ensures that the gunpowder burns evenly and produces the necessary gas expansion for propulsion in firearms and fireworks. Proper safety measures are crucial throughout production to minimize the risk of explosions.
